Project — Institutional – Education

Address — 2455 Létourneux Avenue, Montreal, QC

Year of completion — 2021

Area – 20 807 sq. ft.

 

The scope of work consisted of phase 1 renovation of the sanitary blocks and changing rooms at the École Eulalie-Durocher of the CSDM, covering a surface area of approximately 1933 m², at 2455 Létourneux Avenue in Montreal.  The work was performed in a busy environment in an accelerated mode.

Access to the location was a challenge that we successfully overcame.

Year of completion — 2020

Area – 14 145 sq. ft.

 

This project involved renovating 8 classrooms in the main pavilion of the École Polytechnique de Montréal.

Complexity and challenge: Working in a busy environment, the challenge was in safely removing asbestos. All work was carried out in an accelerated mode and the noise and dust were effectively controlled. Although access to the stairwell was difficult to conduct work and allow passing users, efficient coordination of the work made it possible to successfully meet these challenges.

Station Polytechnique is one of the winners of the competition launched by the STM to solicit individuals or organizations interested in recovering MR-63 cars. The project involved installing an MR-63 metro car in the Lorne-M.-Trottier atrium of the Pierre Lassonde pavilion of Polytechnique Montréal. Essentially, the car was placed (parked) on a new structure close to the atrium’s stairs. The car is freely accessible to the student community and the layout provides flexibility to meet a variety of student-organized activities.

This innovative, motivating project involved some critical challenges and milestones, nevertheless the scope for manœuvre and limits, the sequence of installation, the techniques, the sequence of installation, and the techniques for dismantling and reassembling the curtain wall required special attention to allow entry and exit to the workers, equipment, and materials required to accomplish the work.

Germano Construction performed restoration and expansion of the existing building which dates from the beginning of the century and is recognized as a heritage property in Quebec’s cultural heritage directory.

Preservation of architectural details and geothermal energy were part of the work performed for this project.

Project — Institutional – Governmental

Address — 600 Fullum Street, Montreal, QC

Year of completion — 2020

Area – 6 458.3 sq. ft.

Integrated architectural structure steel canopy

Work at SQI was carried out in a busy environment, during days and evenings. All the work was carried out in accelerated within 5 phases. In addition, we have integrated an architectural structure, a steel canopy with cables at the main entrance and completed the landscaping work.

Project — Institutional – Hospital

Address — 3755 Côte Ste-Catherine Road, Montreal, QC

Year of completion — 2020

Area – 14 208 sq. ft.

The work of this mandate included the demolition and development of the CRC (cardiac rehabilitation centre) in an operational environment.

Challenges consisted of complex access for materials to the site, the nightly shutdown of services, dust, and noise control.

We applied enhanced mitigation measures developed specifically for operating health-care facilities (ventilation, noise, vibration).

Project — Institutional – Hospital

Address — 1650 Cédar Street, Montreal, QC

Year of completion — 2010

Area – 12 000 sq. ft.

 

The work was performed in a busy environment with minimal impact around the unit following asbestos health and safety protocol.  The project included complete reconstruction of 11 coronary care units while maintaining the operations of the adjacent departments.

Continuous, close collaboration with electromechanical professionals and subcontractors ensured proper execution of the electromechanical master plan.

The work was carried out in compliance with infection control requirements, the hospital environment’s protocol.  Demolition work was carried out in asbestos conditions.

The concept of this project was to decentralize support services along the corridor, integrate glass sections for optimal visibility, and facilitate continuous patient monitoring.

The completed project maximized the natural light and outside views.

Project — Institutional – Municipal

Address — 3700 Fleury Street East, Montréal-Nord, QC

Year of completion — 2018

Area – 38 750 sq. ft.

The project involved renovating the Aréna Fleury in the borough of Montréal-Nord with an area of 38 750 sq. ft., while aiming to achieve LEED Silver certification. Major challenges of the project included: the under ice floor with drainage and heating system, the new refrigerated slab drainage and heating systems, the new refrigerated slab, and the installation of ice strips and the new lighting system. The work included repair of the bleachers and changing rooms, and development of a new mechanical room for refrigeration, mechanical, and electrical equipment.

Area – 14 531 sq. ft.

This is a LEED Silver project, consisting of renovating and expanding Station 71 in the city of Montreal:

Phase I – Repair of garage access slab and sewer connections

Phase II – Installation and commissioning of temporary buildings

Phase III – Renovation and expansion

Phase IV – Completion of work

Key requirements for LEED certification consisted of erosion and sediment quality control, ambient air quality control throughout the duration of the site, and a construction waste management plan.
